Mastercam® is a trademark of CNC Software, Inc. A simple but powerful user interface ensures that you will be up and running within minutes. Part geometry is received from any CAM system in popular neutral formats, such as DXF, IGES, and STEP, and an integrated post processor outputs popular G-code and CL data formats. VoluMill Universal is a full-featured 2- and 3-axis toolpath engine for any geometric configuration, including open shapes and islands.
#Mastercam x5 archive
Beginning in version 4.0, VoluMill Universal will allow you to import VoluMill Operation Archive files directly, so that you can easily move your Mastercam toolpaths into VoluMill Universal. You can then send these files to us if you need technical support. This button automatically exports VoluMill data from any version of VoluMill for Mastercam (X2 through X5 MU1) to a VoluMill Operation Archive file. In addition, in order to provide support after our Mastercam licenses expire, we have added an Export button to the VoluMill Parameters tab. Your current licenses of VoluMill for Mastercam will automatically work with VoluMill Universal. It will also be continually updated with enhancements and bug fixes, ensuring that you always have access to our latest improvements. Though not integrated into Mastercam, it generates toolpaths that are identical to those you are using now, so there will be very little change to your workflow. This standalone system works with any CAM system, including any version of Mastercam.
#Mastercam x5 install
If you choose to install a version of Mastercam beyond X5 MU1 at some future date, you can continue to generate VoluMill toolpaths with our VoluMill Universal product. This new version will run in both X5 as well as X5 MU1 and incorporates our very latest version 3.6 VoluMill Engine.ĭespite all of our attempts to continue our relationship with CNC Software, we have been unsuccessful.
#Mastercam x5 update
Mastercam has released their MU1 update for version X5 and we are able to offer an updated version of VoluMill to you. It supports multi-passes and can optionally include finishing passes.Subject: Update regarding VoluMill and Mastercam. Dynamic Contour uses an intelligent, efficient high speed contouring strategy to remove material along walls. Dynamic Rest Mill helps ensure maximum tool efficiency during cleanup routines. "New dynamic milling techniques include Dynamic Rest Mill and Dynamic Contour. "Dynamic milling constantly adjusts the toolpath to ensure the most efficient cut possible and allows use of the entire tool flute length, often eliminating the need for multiple depth cuts," said a company spokesperson. This efficient, bi-directional cutting strategy is designed to remove the maximum amount of material with the minimum of step-downs, reducing cycle times.īelow is a comparison between traditional machining and OptiRough: Large, aggressive cuts are followed by fast, smaller up-cuts, safely and quickly delivering a fully roughed part, said Mastercam.Ī single OptiRough toolpath can cut material in two directions: on step-downs (-Z) and step-ups (+Z). OptiRough is a new technique designed to remove large amounts of material quickly using its successful dynamic milling motion. Mastercam's new 3D surface high speed OptiRough toolpath supports cutters capable of machining very large depths of cut. The result is a finer finish with less work, the company said. These files are intended for those who have purchased Mastercam X5 for SolidWorks. This new toolpath evaluates the model shape and smoothly switches between Constant Z cutting and Constant Scallop machining. Hybrid finishing intelligently blends two efficient cutting techniques in a single toolpath. Mastercam X5 includes new dynamic milling techniques, new OptiRough toolpath, multiaxis machining and more.
